Name: KimberLee Heidmann

Position: EVP, Quality and Regulatory, Data Protection Officer at Scout

Bio: KimberLee’s career in life sciences began in 1998 with her work at a subsidiary of the World Health Organization. She joined Scout in 2001 and has served in multiple capacities over her 24-year tenure. Her passion lies in driving transformative change in the clinical research field, creating inclusive pathways to research care for patients regardless of factors such as location, economic status, age, gender, disability, or race.

Why I’m passionate about patient engagement: “The reality is that, in research, we have the potential to bring treatment (and even sometimes cures) to the disorders and diseases that rob people of one of our greatest blessings: our health. In so doing, these adversaries take away financial stability, emotional and mental health, strain family relationships, and cost people precious time with the ones they love. Sometimes, research gives people hope. Personally, I pray for a day when we have answers about how to defeat familial pulmonary fibrosis, and I pray that research leads to that very, very soon. But without clinical trial participants and their families, there is no research. These are the people who sacrifice their time, energy, jobs, convenience, and comfort for the chance at some hope—for themselves and for others. Research is made up of a big community working together, not the least of which are those who are personally fighting the adversaries body, mind, and soul. That’s why I want to be a part of what we do in this industry—and why I’m proud of how we do it at Scout.”
